Kala Ghoda Arts Festival 2016!
The Kala Ghoda Art Festival 2016 that is held annually in the month of February seeks to showcase a kaleidoscope of events that brings alive the rich culture of art in every form. The festival began with a bang from 6th feb and will go on till 14th feb from 10 am – 10 pm at Kala Ghoda.
Each year the passionate Kala Ghoda Art Festival Team makes a great effort to bring new and innovative changes to the already diverse program and this year is no different. The theme for KGAF 2016 is CROSSING THE THRESHOLD (Seemaprabhava) that boasts of over 600 programs across 12 sections.
6th Feb marked the launch of ‘Kala Ghoda – Celebrating Mumbai’s Art District’, a book by Abha Narain Lamba. The book is about the iconic history of the Kala Ghoda Association and the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival. This was launched with much fanfare and dance events by the extremely handsome, Siddharth Malhotra!
Speaking at the book launch and sharing the stage with stalwarts like Maneck Davar, Chairman of Kala Ghoda Arts Festival and Brinda Miller, Festival Director, the hunky actor Siddharth claimed that, “I am from Delhi and therefore I have not visited the festival as much but this is an iconic festival Pan India as it puts arts and culture on the map and there is nothing greater than the encouragement of art and artists. Even growing up in Delhi, I have always heard and dreamt about Kala Ghoda and it feels great to be a part of this momentous book launch which speaks volumes about the growth of one of India’s biggest culture driven festivals. I think art is a very de stressing medium and amidst the heritage and beauty of Kala Ghoda, the festival is sure to push the boundaries once again, all the best and thank you to the team of Kala Ghoda Arts Festival for making this happen year after year!”
Maneck Davar, Chairman of Kala Ghoda Arts Festival said that, “This book is an integral part of the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival journey and marks the contribution of the festival to the world of Art. Once again, we wish to give festival goers something different and hence we are proud to say that this year Kala Ghoda has tied up with the Government for the Make in India initiative and the festival will be extended for the first time for 3 days at Cross Maidan and will go on till 17th Feb. We have stalwarts like Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasiya, Shubha Mudgal, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and more and we hope everyone has a memorable time.
